We created a Spring Ski and Ride Course so that you can experience the amazing ski terrain in the San Juan’s at the best time of year while basecamping at @redmtnalpinelodge . This cuts down on commute time so you can get the most out of your daily alpine missions. 

In this immersive 3-day course you’ll learn about managing spring avalanche cycles as well as practice ski mountaineering skills. Plus you’ll get to ski some rad continuous lines off the peaks in the area.

Cost: $1599
Includes 3 days of instruction, 2 nights with meals at @redmtnalpinelodge , access to the latest Ortovox avalanche gear, and transportation to and from the trailhead.

The answer is different for everyone, but you should definitely have solid movement, technical skills, know how to downclimb, and be able to predict the strength of your screw placements.

In the @sanjuanmtnguides 3-day ice leaders course you’ll practice all of that and more. You’ll also practice mock leads with feedback until you’re ready to get on the sharp end. 

The consequence of falling while leading ice can be high. Learn about all the tools you have at your disposal so you can be confident!

Stephen is an alpine, ice, ski and rock guide who originally hails from Tennessee. He’s been guiding for more than a decade both internationally and at home. He regularly guides in Colorado, Washington, Alaska, Mexico and Argentina. 

Stephen is a strong all-around climber and skier and his personal experience includes first ascents in Alaska, long rock routes in the desert Southwest, technical ski descents in the Tetons and demanding ice climbs in the Canadian Rockies. 

Favorite trail snack: A Sandwich. Literally any type of sandwich. 
Furry companion: He likes to annoy a kitty named Mitzi!
